The sogeum (also spelled sogum or sogŭm) is a small, bamboo, side-blown flute that, together with the daegeum and junggeum, makes up the samjuk family (literally ‘three bamboos’). It produces the highest register of all the Korean wind instruments and is thus not typically a solo instrument.
