About Pinecone Pendants
Third Eye Pinecones are hand-crafted from the center of the world's densest Pinecone, the Knobcone. The Knobcone Pine tree produces cones that stay closed for many years; when eventually exposed to fire, the cones open up, drop their seeds, and reproduce.
The pinecones used to make these pinecone pendants are sustainably wild-gathered high in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Once dried, aged, and cured, a single cross-section is cut from the "heart" of each cone. By cutting only a single cross-section per cone, the remainder of each Pinecone can be harvested and germinated for seed, therefore still contributing to the conservation of the unique species.
Each cross-section of pinecone is cleaned, sanded, polished, and designed, then sealed in resin. The resin seal protects the delicate cone itself, as well as the gemstone inlays. Pendants that are lighter in color are usually from a younger pinecone, while the darker pendants represent an older cone.
Caring for Your Pinecone Pendant
You can wear your pinecone pendant every day, as it is sealed for protection and to add sturdiness. It is recommended that you remove your pendant before showering or bathing. Do not expose your pinecone pendant to heat above 120 degrees F. Do not hang it in a window or from your car mirror in hot sunlight.
Glow-in-the-Dark Pendants
These pendants include a phosphorescent powder, which causes the inlay to glow in the dark. The phosphorescent powder is activated by UV-spectrum light (like natural sunlight) and can glow for over 12 hours.
The powder is non-toxic and will only lose 5% of its glow over the next 10 years.
Sustainability
When you buy a pinecone pendant, ThirdEye Pinecone will put a portion of your money towards planting a tree via American Forests. Trees will be planted in areas of the United States that have been negatively impacted by logging, wildfire, or pollution.
