Red Ute Edward Bent Box Sr. Traditional Indian Flute Purple Heart 6 Hole Key F

Description

This is an UNSIGNED Original Red Ute / Edward Bent Box Sr. Traditional Handmade Indian Flute. The flute has a paper label identifying it as a 6 hole Key of F and made of Purple Heart. The Native American flute has a lighter wood totem that appears to be a fox. This flute is NOT signed with the usual "RU" on the side but was obtained in the same lot from the estate of the flute maker. The flute measures approximately 23-3/8 inches long and 1-1/4 inches in diameter. The totem measures approximately 2 inches long, 1 inch wide and 2 inch tall. This flute is one of the last remaining original pieces obtained from the maker's estate. Please see photos.
Edward Bent Box / Red Ute - his Indian Name, (April 1, 1920 - September 18, 2012) was a Traditional Spiritual Leader of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe and member of the Moache-Capote Bands of the Ute Nation.
One of his greatest passions was traditional Indian flute-making. He was a member of the Indian Arts and Crafts Assn. (IACA), Southern Highland Craft Guild, and the International Native American Flute Assn. (INAFA).
