Description
This is an Original Red Ute / Edward Bent Box Sr. Traditional Handmade Indian Flute. The flute is made of Mahogany with a white animal shaped block and the Signature "RU" on the side. The flute has leather strips attached and is a 6 hole in the Key of F. This flute has a carved enlarged shoulder under the animal. It shows slight signs of use but is otherwise in very good condition. The flute measures approximately 21-3/4 inches long and 1-1/8 inches in diameter. The block measures approximately 2-1/2 inches long, 1 inch wide and 1-1/2 inches tall. Please see photos.Edward Bent Box / Red Ute - his Indian Name, (April 1, 1920 - September 18, 2012) was a Traditional Spiritual Leader of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe and member of the Moache-Capote Bands of the Ute Nation.
One of his greatest passions was traditional Indian flute-making. He was a member of the Indian Arts and Crafts Assn. (IACA), Southern Highland Craft Guild, and the International Native American Flute Assn. (INAFA).
