It will come as no secret to most flute players that the quality of the head joint determines a great deal of the overall playability of a flute.
This
Yamaha
head joint is from their
300, 400 Series Flutes
and the tube is made of
Sterling Silver (.925)
.
Interestingly enough, the
Gold Plating
on the
Lip Plate
and extending throughout the
Interior
of the tube has a substantial and very positive effect on the sonics of the head joint and therefore on the entire flute. The resulting sonority is large with extra robustness and a much more interesting tone palette.
This head joint allows the beginning/advancing player to upgrade his/her flute without having to purchase a new instrument.
