Gemeinhardt: Where Artistry and Technology Blend.
Kurt Gemeinhardt dedicated himself to creating remarkably responsive instruments with a beautiful tone that would distinguish them from all others. Today, Gemeinhardt continues his legacy by incorporating the craftsmanship of the past with today's sophisticated technology to create flutes that are as artful as they are advanced. An instrument of pride for flutists of all talents and abilities.
As the largest exclusive manufacturer of flutes and piccolos, Gemeinhardt instruments are known and trusted for their acoustic and mechanical excellence, and are the preference of more flutists the world over. A preference you'll understand once you play any one of their remarkable instruments.
Professional Features of the 3O
The 3O (
that's "Three-Oh", not "Thirty
!") offers most of the specifications most teachers recommend for a student ready to purchase their first step-up flute. With open holes, referred to as a French key mechanism, and a C footjoint, the model 3O flute is one of the most popular step-up flutes offered today. Open holes provide better tone and the ability for advanced students to learn alternate fingerings, multiphonics, quarter-tones, and other extended techniques used in rock, jazz, contemporary, and avant-garde music.
Compare this flute to a new Yamaha YFL-261, the competitor's product. In a blind playtest, I've never seen anyone prefer the Yamaha YFL-261 over the Gemeinhardt 3O. And the Gemeinhardt costs 0 less! Surprised? Everyone is! But remember, this is the new Gemeinhardt, not the old obsolete Gemeinhardts you might have tried before!
Beauty and Elegance
The real Gold-Plated Lip Plate is beautiful to the eye
and
ear. It is less slippery than a silver lip plate and is hypoallergenic.
Offset G keys are more ergonomic and comfortable to hold, and are the standard among students and professionals. This configuration adds strength and durability to the mechanism, and is cheaper to maintain. We do not recommend inline G; offset G is better for virtually everyone.
The elegant French case and case cover carries your flute in style and safety.
French Model Flute:
Also known as an open hole flute, the French model flute has venting holes on the A,G,F,E, and D keys.
Offset G:
Offset G keys are mounted at a slightly different angle on their own posts. Many flute players consider offset G to be a more comfortable alternative than the old-fashioned inline G. It does not change the sound. Nowadays offset G is 95% of all flute sales, at every skill level of flute from beginner to professional. Its more ergonomic and durable and will have better resale value down the road. (Pro tip: Look for the O in Gemeinhardt model numbers to denote offset G!)
Think you know Gemeinhardt? Guess again!
Gemeinhardt has completely reinvented itself.
If you haven't played a brand new Gemeinhardt this year, try one! After a stagnant decade of being owned by investment bankers, Gemeinhardt is back in the hands of flute experts! They have completely redesigned their flutes and they are better than ever. The world's most popular brand of flutes once again receives a recommendation from Rich Lupo Flutes and Piccolos.
*Many of the components of a Gemeinhardt flute are made in the USA. The headjoint, body, footjoint, and keys are
made in Elkhart, Indiana USA.
The parts are sent to Gemeinhardt's parent company overseas where they are assembled, then sent back to Elkhart for testing and adjustments. Gemeinhardt says they can make the parts better in their own USA shop than anywhere else. Virtually all other brands do it different, having their parts made in China then shipped to America for assembly. American-Made parts are stronger and higher quality, and create jobs in America! So while it's not 100% made in USA, the parts that matter are, resulting in amazing quality and price.
5 year manufacturer warranty.
30 day money back return policy.

Rich Lupo Flutes and Piccolos is a flute specialty store, not a giant warehouse with forklifts and conveyor belts. We only accept the best
flutes from the manufacturer. We are an Authorized Gemeinhardt Dealer. We hand select our inventory with care and extensively test and set-up each flute before shipping it to our customers. Every flute, even brand new, needs professional testing and set-up. The final stage of quality control is the dealer. The manufacturer knows this, and expects it out of their dealers. You don't want a flute straight from the factory, you want a flute that has been carefully checked over and tweaked for maximum performance by a professional flutist. We're not some giant warehouse that imports flutes on trucks and ships them out on conveyor belts. We are a flute shop. We test and customize each and every flute that goes out our doors, to make sure it is perfect for our customer. We tweak and refine each flute, making all necessary adjustments, evening the spring tension, oiling, fitting the joints better, tuning, etc. All to make the factory made flute play and feel like a fine handmade flute. A few hours of attention makes all the difference! Now
that's
something you
can
't do in a warehouse.
So quiz your dealer.
Find out if they actually know anything about flutes! Ask them which Bb fingering is their favorite. Which orchestras have they soloed with? Where did they study? Would you buy a car from a salesman who didn't even have a driver's license? Would you even believe a word they said?
