I am a flutist/teacher of over 30 years and I have a masters degree in flute performance.
For many years, I have searched high and low for a brand that would combine quality craftsmanship with amazing playability and reasonable prices.
I am so pleased to have found these flutes, as they are some of the very best for the price. All Di Zhao flutes and piccolos come with a precision handcut headjoint (!), making them a fantastic buy, as this is a feature that most other flute makers offer at a much higher price.
The handcut headjoint makes a world of difference in tone, response (how quickly and easily a flute "speaks" on a quickly tongued passage), and overall potential for color and dynamics. This means that a student can push this flute farther and play more difficult pieces with less effort.
Why Choose a Di Zhao:
All Di Zhao flutes and piccolos are world class instruments. Di Zhao has been principal flutist with the National Ensemble Orchestra of China in Beijing, and is a well-known world-class flute maker formerly associated with both the Vern
e
Q. Powell and Haynes companies for many years.
Each flute:
-comes with a one year warranty
-is tuned to A=442
-has a hand cut headjoint
-has been crafted with care and then inspected/adjusted and play-tested by Mr. Zhao
-comes with a French slimline case, outer carrying case, wood cleaning rod, and removable plugs for the holes.

When I recently
gave a recital in New Mexico, my handmade Powell was in the sh

having to ask myself if it is really wor

ing one to own in the future.
