    Description

A very special and unusual pair of Victorian silver plated entree / chafing dishes from a scarcely found silversmith, Stephen Smith and Sons of Covent Garden, London. The first mark entered on January 2nd 1865 from from his workshop at 35 King Street.
They both stand on four very elegant fluted legs. Hot water is poured into the base of each (or crushed ice for chilled foods); ;there is a dish fitted on top of the hot water for keeping hot foods warm and an optional (original) pierced or reticulated plate for foods requiring oil to drain away to the dish below.
Clearly from a very smart English family with each lid bearing the original engraved Armorial Crest.
Each is marked on the underside. Excellent antique condition with wear commensurate with age; no silver loss.
Each spanning 13" handle to handle x 8 1/4" x 6" tall to lid handle.
