    Description

Authentic 1600s Spanish-colonial era 1-real denomination silver cob coin, sea salvaged from shipwreck off the coast of South America during the 1960s, name of wreck not specifically identified. Looks to be an early shield-type cob. Clearly exhibits “shipwreck effect” saltwater corrosion, but the design on both sides, cross and shield, along with the requisite lions and castles, are still quite visible and relatively clear. Coin is mounted in a custom-made bezel pendant, made of sterling silver with 14k yellow gold prongs and 14k yellow gold bale/bail, which will accommodate a chain or cord up to 6mm thick, to wear as a necklace. Pendant is open on both sides, making it reversible if desired. Gross weight of entire pendant is 5.21 grams, approximately. Coin is ungraded.
