Description
Authentic Spanish-colonial era 1-Real denomination Silver Cob coin, “Pillars & Waves” type, minted in Potosi (Bolivia), Assayer "E" (Erqueta), during the reign of Felipe IV. Coin sourced and originally purchased from Rio de la Plata Compañia Numismatica Auctions, and includes the original flip-tag that went with the coin when it was first sold. The coin is now mounted in a custom designed heirloom-quality bezel-setting attached to a solid-link Sterling Silver "
Foxtail" or "Wheat" type chain bracelet. The solid chain links make the bracelet heavier than the coin itself, meaning that the coin will naturally end up on the upper side of your wrist (which is where you would want it), as the weight of the chain itself slides downward towards the underside of wrist. Also, most Foxtail or Wheat chains have hollow links, making them quite fragile and easily damaged. This particular chain, though, is made of all
solid
Sterling Silver links, not hollow, and as such they are extremely durable and much more resistant to damage. The bracelet is adjustable in length, fitting anywhere between a 5.5 inches up to 8.5 inches circumference wrist, utilizing a jump ring-chain extension that allows the clasp to fit into any of the extension links to allow it to fit tighter or more loosely as desired. The extension also features a small fob on the end, a rough, uncut Emerald in a Sterling Silver collar setting, giving a more substantial part of the bracelet to grasp on to when putting the bracelet on, as well as serving as a charm on the end (if desired) as it will dangle on the end of any unneeded chain length. The fob and extension chain may also be easily removed or shortened (if desired). The Emerald is partially covered by the Silver collar of the fob, so it is only visible from one side as well as end-on. The bezel is Sterling Silver. The weight of the coin
unmounted
is 3.57 grams (approximately) and the weight
mounted
in it's current setting with the bracelet is 23.50 grams
total
(approximately). Included is a full-color photographic fact & information sheet with relevant information about the coin & it's history, which can be seen in several of the listing's photos.
