    Description

In our travels, this was an item we had never come across before, and took some research.  It is called a "Gimbal Cigar Lighter".  The definition of "gimbal" is a mechanism of rings that keeps an object horizontal.  Basically, no matter what angle the handle is at, the wick of the lighter will always be upright.  This type of lighter appears to have been popular in the late 1880s and early 1900s.  I have found many varieties listed in the 1910s.  This does not have the wick, but that should be easy to find.  The chain attached to the top cap is unattached, but that also should be easy to remedy.  The lighter stands just under 3 1/2 inches tall, 3 1/4 inches wide, 7 1/2 inches from front to end of handle.  The handle, itself, is 4 5/8 inches long.  The base is 1 5/8 inches across and appears to be painted metal.  It is a different and a a bit unique item in the tobacciana world.
THANK YOU FOR VIEWING OUR LISTING AND WE HOPE YOU WILL CHECK OUT OUR OTHER ITEMS.  WE TRY TO LIST ALL ITEMS ACCURATELY AND STAND BY WHAT WE SELL AS BEING AS ADVERTISED.  MOST ITEMS HAVE A TWO DOLLAR CHARGE FOR SHIPPING, AS THAT IS WHAT MATERIALS NOW COST US.  PRICES FOR PACKING MATERIALS HAVE RISEN.  HEAVIER ITEMS MIGHT COST A BIT MORE, BUT WE NEVER MAKE MONEY ON SHIPPING. POSTAGE AND SHIPPING COSTS ARE ESTIMATES.
