Antique WINE COASTER REED & BARTON Large Silver Plate Footed Champagne Pre-1928

Description

Handsome antique wine coaster by REED & BARTON bears the bottom mark “MF’D & PLATED BY REED & BARTON 3231.” Very faint traces of the bird, shield and arrow Reed & Barton mark above this, worn away by decades of polishing but seen on other pieces in the 3231 collection. The handles are embellished with center straps, flowers and leaves. Six lines circle the lower half and there are four decorated feet. The silver plating is intact overall with some pitting on the inside bottom. A horseshoe-shaped line is etched on one outer side that could once have been a decoration. This is a fine, sturdy piece for use at weddings, special occasions or everyday. Measures 5-1/4” across (8” across including handles) x 1-1/8” high (2-1/2” including handles).
