Snuffing Out A Candle is Always Preferable to Blowing One Out!
"There are a Number of Good reasons for this...
One commonly held belief amongst Witches is that Blowing Out a Candle is effectively Changing it's Intention!
Since Our Breathe is the Element of Air, Blowing upon one's candle, after taking time to charge it to its purpose just so, is believed to altar whatever intention you have just painstakingly instilled it with. Not all Witches believe this, but many do! You must be the one to determine of this holds True for your Spellwork
Another reason not to blow out Candles out is that it often blows melted wax all over the place.
This can be detrimental to a lovely altar cloth, your tarot cards, expensive ritual tools, and any other objects on your altar, as melted candle wax can be difficult to get off of some stones, cards and materials, and darn near impossible to get our of cloth!
This is very likely to happen, as we tend to sit at our altars daily and light and re-light our candles so often.
So, why take the chance?
It is easier, safer and cleaner to simply snuff out candle flames, be they from a votive, taper , pillar or jar candle.
Also, if a flame ever begins to crackle, spit or just plain get out of hand, that little snuffer makes for a quick and convenient solution to have readily nearby!"
