This listing is for a lovely late 18th Century English Sterling Silver wine funnel with gorgeous repousse decoration, c. 1793. These funnels were
designed to filter sediment from good wine, and to assist in decanting a bottle of wine by directing the flow against the side of the decanter, thus preventing bruising, or excess air. Marked with English hallmarks for London, Sterling, date letter for 1793 and maker's mark, however, the stamp for the maker is worn and illegible.
Measures 5" high and 3" in diameter at top opening. Weighs 70 grams.
This nice wine funnel is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws and reflecting only minimal signs of normal wear.
